April has been an absolutely beautiful, joy-filled month here at Northwoods ELCP. As a learning center and daycare serving families across Northwest Houston, Spring ISD, and Klein ISD, we love sharing the wonderful milestones our students achieve each month.

From hands-on science lessons to special community visitors and a heartfelt retirement celebration, our classrooms have been buzzing with excitement. Pull up a chair and take a look at what our amazing students were up to this April!

Hands-On Learning: Watching God’s Creation Unfold

One of the most awe-inspiring moments this month was watching God’s beautiful creation unfold right before our eyes. As part of our early childhood science curriculum, our students raised and released butterflies, witnessing the incredible life cycle up close. There is truly nothing sweeter than watching little hands gently hold, admire, and release these beautiful creatures into the Texas sunshine.

Welcoming Our Community & Special Visitors

At Northwoods ELCP, we love connecting our students with the community around them. This month, we welcomed several very special guests to our Cypress Creek Parkway campus:

  • Pet Care with a Pro: Our furry friend Yoshi the dog visited along with his owner, Missy the Veterinarian! The children received a fun, engaging look into animal care and how to be kind to pets.

  • A Feathered Friend: We met Evie the bird, who visited us along with her parents, Mr. Ken and Mrs. Bambi. The children were bursting with curiosity and loved learning all about her.

  • Sonia’s Sourdough Bread: Community helper Mrs. Sonia Fitzgerald—a talented local baker and owner of Sonia’s Sourdough Bread—shared her incredible baking craft with our students. The best part? A delicious taste-testing session that was a massive hit with our preschoolers!

Community Thank You: A huge shoutout to all of our amazing families from the Spring and Klein areas who came out to support us for our Chick-fil-A Spirit Night! We love our Northwoods community.

A Heartfelt Farewell to Mrs. Bambi McWhorter

This month brought a bittersweet milestone for our school family. After 13 incredible years of dedication, we celebrated the retirement of our beloved Pre-K teacher and Director, Mrs. Bambi McWhorter.

Mrs. Bambi has poured her heart and soul into shaping Northwoods ELCP into the loving, exceptional preschool it is today. We celebrated her legacy with cards, gifts, and lots of love from students past and present. In her own beautiful words:

"Working with children is what makes my heart sing, and seeing the world through their eyes fills me with wonder."

Mrs. Bambi, you will be deeply missed, and our entire community wishes you endless joy in this next season of retirement!

Looking Ahead: May Milestones & Pre-K Graduation! 🎓

We are heading into the final stretch of the school year, and we have some major milestones to celebrate:

  • Pre-K Graduation Ceremony

  • Date: May 22nd

  • Time: 10:00 AM

We cannot wait to see our graduates take the stage and celebrate all they have accomplished before they head off to kindergarten in Spring ISD, Klein ISD, and beyond!
