Starting a new year can be a transition for little ones, but our classrooms jumped right back into routines with a lot of warmth and a ton of winter activities. If you walked down our halls in January, you would have seen exactly how we blend intentional learning with actual fun.
Here is what our days looked like:

Sensory & Science: Our 3s class had a blast with "melting snowmen" and winter-themed sensory bins. It looks like messy play, but it’s actually how they figure out cause-and-effect and build early problem-solving skills.
Bringing Books to Life: We didn't just read The Button Box and The Mitten—we used them. The kids practiced sorting, counting, and sequencing patterns using real items from the stories, which helps build those early math foundations without sitting at a boring desk.
Getting the Wiggles Out: When it's chilly outside, we have to get creative indoors. The kids loved learning to "walk and slide like penguins," which is just a fun way for us to sneak gross motor skills and physical movement into their morning.
Music & Art: Our classrooms were filled with music as the kids illustrated "Fish Are Gonna Bite," using different textures and materials to make their own art.
Through all of this, our faith-based roots stay at the center of our day. We wrapped up every week with Chapel time and kept Bible stories woven naturally into our daily conversations. It was the perfect, cozy start to our semester.
